Tuesday August 15, 2006.
Today
at James Madison University, Harrisionburg,
VA. The Innovation and Technology Conference
was presented by US Rep. Congressman Bob
Goodlatte. Also in attendance was Under Secretary of
Commerce for Technology, Robert
Cresanti.
Speaker Mark
Bayliss, founder and CEO of World Airwaves spoke about
the World Airwaves Harrisonburg Franchise “The First
IPv6 network in North America” which has built out Phase
I and is going into beta testing by August 30,
2006.
“It’s
a jumpstart.” Bayliss said. “By 2008, all 1500 agencies
in the federal government will be Ipv6-compliant.” and
counties that integrate will reap the benefits by giving
innovators the access to this new technology.
The IPv6 technology will become the
new standard for the Internet around the world. It
boasts many security overhauls and the architecture makes for
accelerated speeds. Both Mr. Goodlatte and Mr. Cresanti
reiterated that Ipv6 is the technology of the future
.
Mr. Cresanti said, “The ability to innovate and
create will drive the 21st century economies”. He also
described a paradigm shift that is happening where
corporations find innovations too expensive in house so they
look outside the corporation, they can pour over
hundreds of proposals from around the world, for the one
that fits them best."
Mr. Goodlatte said, “The Internet and Technology
in general in the 21st century is much like the railroad
in the 19th century, if it came to your community there you
boomed, if it bypassed you, your community became a ghost
town.”
